1790–1840 Census Tickmark Tracker
This tool is designed to help genealogists and family historians work with the earliest U.S. censuses (1790–1840), which list only the head of household and tick marks for other household members instead of individual names. By entering the tick marks into this spreadsheet-style tool, you can follow families over a span of 50 years, estimate ages and birth ranges, and compare census records from decade to decade. Because it’s built on a spreadsheet approach, you can save your own copy, update it as your research develops, and keep a clear, organized record of your findings.
Heads up: This tool is under active development. Features are being added and refined—thanks for your patience and feedback!
